I’m on a mission to live 100 years.

I say it so often that my kids are expecting it. I’ve been asking myself:

– What will this require of me?

– How will I have to adapt, evolve and grow?

A good 100 years, too. I don’t want a home hospice nurse wiping my butt.

I have this vision of me with my grandkids and even my great grandkids…

This little life of a person that’s my great grandchild is running toward me. I’m one of her favorites, and she’s excited to see me.

I lunge low and forward to meet her mid stride.

I catch her with my arms outstretched into my hands and lift her and press her over my head.

I look up and she looks down,. We meet eye to eye.

Then I bring her into my chest where we embrace.

“I love you, Grandpa,” she says.

‘I love you, too,’ I reply.

I squat – ass to grass – to gently set her down to the ground.

All of it is pain free. It’s all joy and gratitude.

This is a small moment, perhaps THE small moment, of my future.

What millions of intricate steps do I need to take between now – I’m age 50 – and then?

Most of my posts are adjacent to this moment.
